damn saloon...

went to london on the weekend... and for the last time. well, til everyone comes back from summer holz. it was really quiet over there with most of the bruhall people already went back. even so, i still had a fun time. ':) most of the time, i hung out with asri, nads & qil. we didn't do much, just the usual jalan-jalan, plenty of games of big two (which btw, qil force people to play cause she was on a winning streak! hehe) and mawar-ing.
on sunday, we went to new cross gate cause asri wanted to get his art stuff before his uni closes for the summer and we wanted to see his uni, so we tagged along. the first time i went past there, i thought it was just a building but it's actually pretty huge! unfortunately the place was already closed for some reason. but the 40-minute tube ride wasn't a complete waste though. we went to a pub nearby and ate a pizza and watched the england-ecuador match. didn't stay long cause it was almost 5pm and i had a train to catch.
oh, i had a haircut too btw... i freakin' hate it! but people say it's ok. i hate it.. and no, i shall not post a picture of my new hairdo. so, don't waste you're breath asking for it.
qil & asri are goin' home this wednesday. sorry i can't see you guys off. have the best time home!

the case of the missing socks...

this is another senseless post, so if you were expecting more you'd be disappointed. so look away now! before i explain what my title for my post is about, i'll tell you what i've been up to.

like my last random ramblings, i didn't do much today either. class were boring as usual except for my emergency response lecture. on most days, it was my routine challange to stay awake in it but today we watched a documentary on freak waves or rogue waves. after just watching poseiden a week before, the video captured my full attention. it explained how these very rare occurances were formed and how it could happen anywhere in the world... being hit by one is still a small probability but to tell you the truth, i'm a bit freaked out. so, keep your fingers crossed for me. i know i'm definitely keeping mine crossed...

i just came back from watching the japan vs brazil match. as an asian, you all know who i was rooting for. i think i was over enthusiastic when japan scored a goal. in an almost empty pub, my celebration scream and claps had everyone's attention. i composed myself and slumped down in my seat, embarrased. my happy grin was quickly wiped off when the slowest brazilian of the bunch, ronaldo, scored the equaliser just before half time. and we all know what happened in the second half, so no need for me to revisit the painful memory.
oh, i've been asked a lot of times what my msn nick quote means.
"ani mana parternya?"
sigh.. i shall explain. when i was out watching a movie with the 3 couples, we met a bruneian family that they knew on the way to the cinema. the mom noticed that the couples were holding hands.. sigh.. and then she noticed me..
"ani mana partnernya?" she asked bluntly... yes.. ouch..
which made me realise how sad my life is. i was out with people who actually could be called were having a triple date! i'm gonna die alone aren't i? if i weren't living on the ground floor, i'd jump out the window right now.
anyway, on to the main topic of the post!
i was doing my laundry (of a month's worth) this afternoon and guess what. i put in a 6 pairs of socks in with the rest of my stuff and when i went to get them back out, 2 halves were missing! i heard stories of this strange phenomenon but i've never believed it to be true until today... strange... very strange...
i told you, you'd be disappointed.

speeding cars & sinking ships

i had a an okay day today. woke up at 10.30am, which is insanely early for a saturday morning.. went out with 'the couples' (they know who they are... hehe) to southampton. finally collected my phone back from the vodafone. it's workin' good now even though i don't really care that much about it actually. i only had it for 2months now and i'm really bored of it already! i feel like getting a new phone. if it wasn't for that stupid mix up with the bank i'd buy one right now!

damn credit card.. for those of you who don't know the story yet, here it is. i bought my electric drums, (which i named lisa.) over a month ago and i paid using my credit card. i thought i arranged my end-of-month payment to be, 5% or more of my credit card usage. but something went wrong and it seems i applied for a FULL PAYMENT. imagine my shock and disbelief when i checked my credit card account online.

payment - £449 (thank you)

at first my thoughts were, "huh? someone paid my credit card bill? dad? nah... can't be... unless it's my..."

*checks bank account*

payment (credit card) - £499
current balance - £338 D

"holy freakin' crap..."

i paid lisa in full! how close was i to having a heart-attack? very close... some of you may not know this but that 'D' is NOT a good thing... it means, i owe the bank that amount...
so yeah... it's a lean month for me, it seems...
that's why i was very hesitant on coming along with the guys who were planning on going for a movie marathon. watching 2 movies back to back. but i didn't want to miss watching all the cool cars and not to mention the hot chicks that goes great next to them in fast & the furious: tokyo drift. the second movie caught my interest too, poseiden. seeing that i work on ships, i wanted to watch how accurate the movie is to real life. it was pretty good actually.
fast & the furious was nyeeehhh... i didn't like the characters in it. the hero acts so cocky and what the hell is up with the cowboy accent?! but the movie is all about the cars. and excluding the actors, it's an awesome movie.

happy birthday to a very close friend of mine, fish! miss hanging out with you!

random ramblings..

not much to post.. it's been a dull day. went to boring lectures, watched the england-trinidad game (yes! england through to the final 16 baby!), had a burger for dinner and had a long nap and woke up at 10pm.. that's why i'm still wide awake and i have a long day tomorrow! yikes! oh! i finally finished prison break season 1! it's freakin' cool! for those of you who've never watched it or even heard of it, you don't know what you're missing!
it's been a dull week. i'm glad weekend's just around the corner. well, i'd be more excited about it if i had any plans.. but i don't.. i might just go to southampton and finally get my phone back! it's been repaired for 3weeks now! haha! so yeah, i might just do that. fifah, yani & memie are comin' over this weekend. that'll light things up.
not much to post really.
i miss iffah ':( that's where i usually be on the weekend. with iffah at brunei hall. (iffah! i need your contact details pronto!) i haven't been there for 2weeks now. to ali & mel; sorry i can't be there in london. hope you guys have a blast of a time. good luck to you ali! *wink wink* hehe. have fun in the us mel! i'll go next week, most probably the last time until everyone comes back from summer holz. it's gonna be a really dull summer for me. and with the warm weather, i hope i can cope. it's gettin' freakin hot man! i'm also contemplating whether i should cut my hair or not. i wanted to grow it long but it's annoying me now. maybe i should just trim it. i definitely need to dye it though.

i saw a very cool movie trailer! it's called the lake house, it's about this woman (sandra bullock) who sends love letters to this guy (keanu reeves) through her mailbox but he receives them instantly cause her mailbox is his mailbox! they live at the same exact lake house but 2 years apart! i'm not a big fan of chick-flicks but this i have to watch! -> the lake house
well, i'll sign off now but before i do, i have to share a really true funny story! this guy, (whom shall be nameless or else he'll kill me!) fell asleep in class and this teacher said to him,
"a blink usually takes less than a second, any longer than that, it's considered sleeping... and bloody hell that was a f*cking long blink!"
hahahahaha! funniest damn thing i've ever heard! the lecturer is such a wise ass..

alright. laters!

here we go...

the crowd cheers or jeers ferociously as they watch 2 oppossing troups fight for the sacred globe. for a whole 90 gruesome minutes, they may endure horrific injuries, a bloody head or muscle pains that could last for days from the fearsome battle. out on the battlefield the 22 mentally strong men have only one thing in mind... to win. legs tired and heavy like lead, they still run... when they fall to the ground, they get up... when it seemed all hope is lost, they pray some more...

why you ask? because they know they are the few chosen ones... they are the representative of their own glorious badges. their armours bore their home crest. every 4 years, 32 countries from all over the world wage war against eachother for the golden cup of life. 31 go home crying but only one goes home with their heads held up high, knowing that they are the best.

unless you've been living under a rock for most of your life, you'd know i'm talking about

!!! the world cup!!!
yes! after waiting 4 very long years, the infamous world cup is finally upon us! as if i wasn't already very fortunate enough to watch the euro2004 here in uk, i get to watch the event of all footballing events here as well! i have to say i feel very sorry for all the people back home who has to watch it in the horrible hours of the mornings, while i, on the other hand, watch it anywhere that has a tv, with the sun blazing down on the very nice weather. i know, life is just not fair sometimes... ':)
so, want to know my predictions? my heart says england but not only because i'm in their home soil, i also happen to be a big fan of the team. they'r also a strong team on paper. they have a very powerful midfield with becks, gerrard and lampard. and when rooney's fit, he can be a handful for the opposing defenders. and they have terry, ferdinand, cole and neville for defence! and with robinson as keeper, they should be really solid at the back.
BUT, my head says it's gonna be brazil's year again... need i say more? just the name alone, gives you flashbacks of what ronaldinho can do, how ronaldo can put it behind the net so easily and how carlos can swerve those free kicks in... *shivers*
but we may see an upset this year like in the euro2004. (wished i had put money on greece. 50/1 chance of winning... man... the money i could've won) but with the world's best teams here, i hardly doubt it..
so, sit back in your comfiest chair, chow down to the most unhealthiest snack and scream at your tv screens 'til your throat hurts. i cannot think of anyone who isn't excited about this.
oh right... except for my sister, whom i shall break all connections with until the world cup ends.

bowling? no thanks!

another weekend in london, another one heck of a time!
as usual, i shocked most of the brunei hall peeps (this is what i shall call them on my blog. hehe) by dropping by on them unexpectedly. it was only that monday i just waved them goodbye. usually my visits would mean, i'm bored to death over at the dead-of-a-town warsash and would very much enjoy the company of my london friends. ':) but this time, however, i came to see my close friend, amy! the last time i saw her here was when she came here the first time! and london was her quick stop before heading home for the summer. so, i didn't want to waste the chance of the usual laughing sessions with her!

so i went to the station at 7.30 in the freakin' morning! i yawned all the way there. you'd be yawning too if slept at 3am after playin' cards all night long.. anyway, poor thing.. i don't know what amy would do without me! she had a lot of heavy luggage! just taking her stuff 30feet to the coffee shop, she had to take short breaks in between! haha!
during her very short stay, we just walked around, hung out and i sent her off that afternoon. too bad she wasn't there for very long.. but i had fun. ':)

the rest of the weekend was definitely not bad either. hung out a lot with waida & farhana! during the nights, we used cards to determine who'd be the 'anak ambuk' (kan far? hehe) and during daylight; window shop, nahar-ing, pool, picture sessions (lots of 'em!) and the so-not my personal favourite, bowling! haha! i had a very fun time guys, thanks a lot!

before i sign off, to everyone who's goin' or already gone for summer holz, have a fun and safe time! enjoy!
